We are C8 Labs, a public safety technology company that’s looking to bring real-time, AI driven insights and decision making to the very edge with applications for outdoor enthusiasts, first responders, law enforcement, and the military. Using our system, search and rescue teams can quickly scan large areas using drones and identify areas of interest for missing persons. First responders and law enforcement officials would be able to leverage a variety of models during major disasters, where network connectivity is often limited and real-time decision making is critical. No matter the situation, our solution can be tailored to meet our customers' diverse needs.

Problem statement

According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons database (NamUS), more than 600k people go missing in the US annually. Search and rescue efforts are largely volunteer based and must cover a large area. Modern technology can help drastically reduce the time required to locate missing persons and narrow in on areas of interest.

Similarly, the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), cites that natural disasters are not only becoming more frequent, but also more expensive. Today, we spend twice as much on natural disasters than we did in 2014, with a 5 year average peak reaching $170B back in 2021.

June 2024

Initial development of the Mark 2 prototype

With the recent release of some new hardware, we were able to iterate on the hardware side of the world and open up tons of new capabilities. The second generation is a little larger, but does not add considerable weight.

September 2023

Initial development of the Mark 1 prototype

Completed the construction of the first generation of the physical unit and began experimenting around with different software that could run on it in an offline environment.
