PicTag helps uses search, sort, and share their pictures more effectively. We allow users to add tags to photos which can be filtered and queried, and share pictures with those tags attached. Additionally, we use novel machine learning algorithms in association with cloud computing so that photos can be automatically tagged correctly and efficiently, making it both easier on the user to tag and more robust as more pictures get added to the neural network.
In a world dominated by pictures, it's still really hard to organize them on your phone. You can't add individual tags to images, you can't organize images you share with others or they share with you, and the machine learning built into phones is quite limited. We want to hand control to the user by letting them have full control over their photo gallery. Surveys we have conducted show on average, college students have over 8000 photos sitting locally on their phone, which they constantly scroll through when they need to find that right one - we want to create a world without aimless scrolling.
As college students, we are in a massive hub with tens of thousands of potential users, many of whom have stated they would love an application like this. College kids take a lot of photos - in fact, on average, kids our age take around 6 selfies per day, so *a lot* is an understatement! If we can get an MVP on the App Store quickly, we believe that through word-of-mouth, on-the-ground advertising, and aggressive online advertising, we can gain quick popularity with the student base. Additionally, we are developing in Flutter, so our app is inherently cross platform and can be deployed to both iPhones and Androids.
