About Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Tech Hub

The Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (APM) Tech Hub, led by the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing, aims to grow and innovate the U.S.-based APM industry, ensuring safe and affordable medicines through hybrid and continuous flow manufacturing technologies. Building on a decade of strategy development, existing assets, and significant investments, the Hub supports reshoring critical pharmaceuticals.

The APM Tech Hub focuses on expanding API and pharmaceutical production by leveraging regional assets, redesigning processes, overcoming regulatory challenges, developing talent, and building infrastructure. Key initiatives include:

- Creating an APM accelerator for drug commercialization
- Upgrading industrial sites at Petersburg Industrial Park
- Constructing a training facility for emerging APM technologies
- Integrating digital technologies into APM
- Developing a skilled workforce
- Establishing an industry roadmap to address supply chain and technology gaps
- Formalizing consortium structure and planning

The consortium is committed to regional workforce training and services for underserved communities and has created an Equity Action Plan to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
