Riga Stradins University Study Validates Exonicus Trauma Simulator as an Effective Tool for Medical Training
A study by Riga Stradins University compared the Exonicus Trauma Simulator (TS) to traditional mannequin-based simulation for trauma training among 38 medical students. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: one trained using the SimMan®3G mannequin and the other using the Trauma Simulator. Performance was evaluated using Trauma Scores, with results showing minimal differences between the two methods. The VR-based training group showed strong performance, with participants praising the immersive technology's ability to enhance understanding and confidence in trauma care.\r\n\r\nWhile 16% reported minor discomfort from the VR headset, feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The study concluded that the Exonicus Trauma Simulator is a practical, scalable alternative to traditional methods, requiring fewer resources and facilitators. This research underscores VR’s potential to complement conventional medical training and advance healthcare education.
