Flying Ship Technologies is building autonomous Wing-in-Ground (WIG) effect vessels that create a new category of high-speed maritime transportation. Flying just feet above the water using ground effect, Flying Ships combine the speed of aircraft with the economics, operational flexibility, and regulatory advantages of maritime vessels. Our initial focus is defense logistics, where military forces require affordable, attritable platforms capable of rapidly moving personnel, supplies, and mission-critical cargo across contested maritime environments. The same technology addresses commercial markets including offshore energy, island logistics, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and regional cargo transportation. Our proprietary Ground Effect Lock System (GELS), protected by multiple patents, enables stable autonomous operation over dynamic water conditions. The company has achieved TRL-6, built and flown multiple prototypes, secured government funding, and is collaborating with organizations across the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and National Guard while expanding commercial partnerships internationally. Flying Ship is defining the next generation of autonomous maritime mobility.

Global logistics lacks an efficient solution between slow maritime transport and expensive aviation. Ships are economical but often too slow for time-sensitive missions, while aircraft are costly to acquire and operate and depend on aviation infrastructure. Defense organizations increasingly require rapid, distributed resupply across contested maritime environments, while commercial operators need faster regional logistics without aircraft operating costs. No existing transportation platform effectively bridges this gap.
Flying Ship has developed autonomous Wing-in-Ground effect vessels that fly just above the water using ground effect, delivering cargo at aircraft-like speeds while maintaining the economics and operational advantages of maritime vessels. Powered by our proprietary autonomous flight-control technology, Flying Ships provide rapid logistics across oceans, coastlines, rivers, lakes, and island chains without relying on airports or runways. The result is a scalable logistics platform that dramatically improves speed, survivability, affordability, and operational reach.
Flying Ship has established strong technical, government, and commercial validation. The company won the Army xTechSearch 9 competition, received an AFWERX SBIR award, executed a CRADA with the Navy, and has participated in operational evaluations with organizations across the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and National Guard. The technology is protected by multiple patents, validated through multiple successful flight-test campaigns, and supported by commercial Letters of Intent from logistics providers spanning North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
