NTIA $10M Grant for Next-Generation Radio Platform Development
Skylark receives prestigious and highly competitive $10M non-dilutive development grant to develop our next generation of energy-efficient and scaled Massive MIMO radio platforms to bolster the competitiveness of the domestic RAN ecosystem.\r\n\r\nThe proposed project aims to integrate and scale a wholly new Software-Defined Radio (SDR) transceiver architecture, Eridan’s Direct Polar Switch-Mode Transmitter in Gallium Nitride (GaN), within a 5G NR Massive MIMO system prototype in order to rovide unprecedented power efficiency and transmitter linearity, both critical parameters and persistent challenges for creating\r\nsmall, affordable, and high-speed connectivity everywhere.\r\n\r\nHigh power tune-ability, increased energy efficiency, and remarkable transmit linearity will unlock unprecedented rural coverage up to 10+ miles cell radius, addressing the affordable rural broadband challenge by offering more capacity over geographically expansive area with minimal infrastructure.\r\n\r\nAward Notice: https://www.ntia.gov/press-release/2025/biden-harris-administration-awards-117-million-wireless-innovation\r\nJoint Press Release: https://www.microwavejournal.com/articles/44211-eridan-and-skylark-wireless-partner-to-advance-energy-efficient-open-ran-solutions-under-ntia-wireless-innovation-grants
