The Vermont Gallium Nitride Tech Hub (V-GaN Tech Hub), led by the University of Vermont, aims to overcome barriers in the development and adoption of Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor chips for high power and high frequency applications. By establishing advanced design centers, prototyping facilities, and a test and characterization lab, the Hub seeks to position Vermont as a global leader in GaN technology—a sector currently lacking a dominant player. The initiative will also address workforce challenges through targeted training programs and support for small enterprises, while fostering regional economic growth by ensuring inclusive access to technology jobs for underrepresented communities.
