Ryan E.Guerra, PhD

Biography

Dr. Ryan E. Guerra holds a B.S. and M.S. from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, where he developed key technologies and software-defined radio platforms for Massive MIMO (mMIMO) and multi-user beamforming. Ryan is an expert in microwave systems, network planning and broadband regulation, as well as embedded design and manufacturing. From 2011 to 2012, he oversaw the renewal of the Rice Network Group’s Technology for All (TFA) residential wireless network and served as network administrator while installing the US's first residential spectrum-sharing TVWS users in 2011. His peer-reviewed publications cover propagation studies and systems research with a focus on wireless beamforming and software-defined radios. He was the principal investigator for Skylark Wireless’s NSF SBIR Phase IIB Award 1632565 from 2016 to 2021.

He guides Skylark's agile 5G/6G radio products and rural broadband deployments, is principal investigator for Skylark's "Dynamic Spectrum Sharing 5G Network Enhancements Prototype" contract with the National Spectrum Consortium (NSC) and US Air Force, and is leading Skylark's partnership engagements and product development for new Open-RAN mMIMO 5GNR and6G prototyping platforms.
