About Vroom Solar

Vroom Solar was founded by Luke Phelps and James Bartley, seasoned entrepreneurs with deep experience in solar installation, electrical engineering, and hardware innovation. The company is building a revolutionary solar power management system that enables high-demand AC applications like power tools, EV charging, and home backup power, without requiring connection to the grid or a battery. Their flagship product, the Vroom 3000, delivers plug-and-use, solar-direct power through a patented smart inverter that manages load shedding, sine wave protection, and dynamic input from solar and optional AC sources. Designed for contractors, agricultural operators, and off-grid use cases, Vroom Solar makes clean, reliable power accessible anywhere.

Problem statement

Vroom Solar is addressing the growing demand for affordable, portable, and grid-independent power in markets where traditional solar and fossil fuel solutions fall short. Millions of contractors, farmers, and remote workers lack access to reliable electricity at job sites, agricultural operations, and temporary or off-grid locations. Traditional solar systems are costly, require complex permitting and installation, and depend on grid connectivity or expensive battery storage. Fossil fuel generators, meanwhile, are heavy, inefficient, noisy, and increasingly restricted by environmental regulations. Vroom Solar delivers the lowest cost of power by enabling solar to deliver plug-and-use power for high-demand AC applications, without a grid connection or battery.

Traction Metrics

Traction information

Vroom Solar has demonstrated strong early traction with 60 dealer applications representing access to over 200,000 potential customers, and Letters of Intent (LOIs) for over 1,000 Vroom 3000 units totaling $3 million in potential revenue. The company has secured purchase orders, launched a pilot project at Convoy of Hope’s headquarters, and received a Phase I AFWERX grant with support from four U.S. Air Force bases. Production began in April, with initial production units delivering now.
