Little Place Labs builds and deploys edge AI/ML software (Orbitfy) on a distributed network of satellites to deliver real-time insights from space for time-sensitive decision-making, across national security & commercial sectors. We have completed multiple in-orbit missions with 6 more missions planned for 2026, secured over $4M in U.S. DoD contracts, launched commercial pilots, and received high profile industry recognition since our inception in 2022. By processing data directly in orbit and leveraging our growing satellite network, Orbitfy reduces latency from hours to minutes and scales access to mission-critical intelligence. Geospatial insights from remote sensing satellites are extremely slow & prohibitively expensive. Traditionally, raw data from satellites must be transmitted to Earth for processing, resulting in substantial time lags of hours & days, and high data downlink costs. These delays hinder timely decision-making in critical areas such as disaster response, national security, and asset monitoring, where rapid access to information is essential. We address this challenge by processing data at its source. We build ultra-low SWaP (size, weight, & power) AI/ML software that is designed to process satellite data in real-time on the resource-constrained hardware on satellites or other space assets. Instead of downlinking GBs of raw satellite data (which takes immense time & costs) LPL’s software extracts useful insights from the data on board the satellite, and downlinks only KBs of actionable text files (eg. coordinates, perimeter, intensity of a wildfire) within 7 minutes. We are scheduled to deploy our software on 50+ satellites in the next 36 months, across a network of partner satellites.

Product: - Tested in multiple in-orbit demonstrations, Orbitfy is at TRL 7 and has delivered usable insights within 25 minutes of capture; we are on track to cut this to under 7 minutes, which is faster than any known competitor. - We have established MoUs with 10+ space infrastructure partners to deploy our software across more than 50 satellites in the next 36 months. This powers our multi-modal insights with unique global coverage. Government Traction: - US $2M secured in U.S. Air Force Phase I/II Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contracts, all milestones on schedule. - Secured $2M Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) from the US Space Force, backed by senior Department of Defense (DoD) leaders, including commanders at Space Forces Europe-Africa and Special Operations Command. - The U.S. Space Force’s Tactical Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Tracking (TacSRT) cell is assessing Orbitfy as a potential future program of record aligned with Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives. Commercial Traction: - Secured ~US $60 k in active pilots including a 6 month infrastructure monitoring pilot with a global trading bank, and a $25k on-orbit edge-compute services: - Secured US $100 k letter of intent for OrbitfyPrep licensing with a commercial Earth-observation constellation. - $7M XPRIZE Wildfire Competition - qualified to semi-finals. Partnered with 3 global companies to detect and suppress wildfires in near real time.
