About Little Place Labs

Little Place Labs builds and deploys edge AI/ML software (Orbitfy) on a distributed network of satellites to deliver real-time insights from space for time-sensitive decision-making, across national security & commercial sectors.

We have completed multiple in-orbit missions with 6 more missions planned for 2026, secured over $4M in U.S. DoD contracts, launched commercial pilots, and received high profile industry recognition since our inception in 2022. By processing data directly in orbit and leveraging our growing satellite network, Orbitfy reduces latency from hours to minutes and scales access to mission-critical intelligence.

We are now raising $3M to advance Orbitfy to TRL-9, deploy across 50+ satellites, and scale toward $27M in revenue by 2028 and $100M+ by 2030.

We have also won SXSW startup pitch 2025 & Techcrunch Disrupt 2025 competitions. LPL has been featured across WSJ, Yahoo, Businesswire, SpaceNews, and other global media platforms

Problem statement

Geospatial insights from remote sensing satellites are extremely slow & prohibitively expensive. Traditionally, raw data from satellites must be transmitted to Earth for processing, resulting in substantial time lags of hours & days, and high data downlink costs. These delays hinder timely decision-making in critical areas such as disaster response, national security, and asset monitoring, where rapid access to information is essential. We address this challenge by processing data at its source. We build ultra-low SWaP (size, weight, & power) AI/ML software that is designed to process satellite data in real-time on the resource-constrained hardware on satellites or other space assets. Instead of downlinking GBs of raw satellite data (which takes immense time & costs) LPL’s software extracts useful insights from the data on board the satellite, and downlinks only KBs of actionable text files (eg. coordinates, perimeter, intensity of a wildfire) within 7 minutes. We are scheduled to deploy our software on 50+ satellites in the next 36 months, across a network of partner satellites.

Milestones

December 2026

2026 Year Milestone

By the end of 2026, LPL will focus on establishing itself as the leading provider of real-time satellite-based insights. By scaling Orbitfy across 10+ partner satellites, integrating diverse data types, including optical, HSI, SAR, thermal, and more, and consistently delivering alerts in under 7 minutes, we aim to become the dominant player in high-impact, time-critical use cases, with a revenue of $3M+. This phase targets urgent scenarios across sectors such as defense, maritime surveillance, disaster management, insurance and finance, driving sustainable revenue and long-term market leadership.

May 2025

Secured TACFI

Our TACFI (Tactical Funding Increase) proposal for $2M was selected by the U.S. Space Force. This funding will accelerate development of our automated tasking and insight delivery capability, along with integration across partner satellites to enable low-latency, cross-constellation tasking. The selection validates both the mission-critical value and defense need for our capabilities, which also extend to commercial use cases such as disaster response, maritime domain awareness, and asset monitoring.

April 2025

Released a Maritime Pilot Program

We released a near real-time solution that detects and classifies vessels in under 1 hour from capture, leveraging our edge computing software on Sidus Space’s Lizziesat constellation. In-Orbit Demonstration (on YAM-6 satellite of Loft Orbital)

In-orbit demonstration on Loft’s YAM-6 started (currently ongoing), as part of our Phase 2 STTR contract with the US Air Force. The mission was to detect adn and classify vessels in near-real time, with latest demo delivering insights within 25 minutes from capture by the satellite.
